A New Voice on Our Clinical Team
We're excited to welcome Erica Ortiz-Dempler to the California Family Institute as a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee, supervised by Chris Hoff, PhD, LMFT #53081. Erica brings a warm, curious, and collaborative presence, along with a deep appreciation for the stories that shape who we are — and we're glad to have her on the team.
Erica is a graduate student in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, where she is part of the Aliento program and completing an emphasis in Latinx Mental Health with a focus on culturally informed care. Before pursuing a career as a therapist, she worked as a filmmaker and storyteller, with much of her work exploring identity and culture.
Her Approach
As a first-generation Mexican-American, Erica values the ways culture, family, and lived experience shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Her approach to therapy is warm, curious, and collaborative.
Erica strives to create a space where clients feel safe exploring the stories that have shaped their lives while discovering new possibilities and hopes for the future.
Erica honors each person's lived experience and walks alongside them as they imagine what's next. She works with clients in English and Spanish.
Get to Know Erica
Outside of the therapy room, Erica enjoys memoir writing, watching films, photography, and spending time outdoors. She also loves being with her husband, her daughter, and their cute cockapoo, Chubbs.
